Setting Up a Home Office

There is no such a thing as a mother who does not work. Whether you’re employed full-time, part-time, or not at all, there will come a point when you’ll need to take a break from household- and baby-related chores and attend to other things. You might be finalizing a presentation, responding to urgent e-mails, organizing a birthday party/playdate, etc. If you’re fortunate enough to have a separate room for for a workspace, lucky you. For apartment dwellers, we have to be a little bit more resourceful when it comes to managing our own space.

All you need is a neat, well-lit, and well-ventilated corner to hold your desk and chair. All the rest can be improvised. It is also best to design it according to your own personal taste and needs. Refrain from storing or placing your children’s toys and nursery items in your office. It might be tempting to want to have everything within reach, but it will affect the way you work. There should be some kind of separation between children/family and career.
